Dr. Maria Ousterhout Publishes Review Article on Generic Inhaled Corticosteroids

Dr. Ousterhout recently published a review article in the online edition of Formulary on the current status of generic inhaled corticosteroids. The review article discusses the difficulty in forecasting when the first generic inhaled corticosteroid will become available and the challenge this poses to health care organizations involved in proactive formulary management. Dr. Ousterhout goes on to discuss that these challenges center on the drug development and FDA approval processes. The article concludes that although currently, an estimation of when these generic products are expected to enter the market is not available, health care organizations can utilize this time to evaluate current management strategies for the inhaled corticosteroid class and to prepare for any future changes that generic agents may bring.
